Turning Japanese

The next night of Weed-end, we played at the Reed college in Portland.  I guess we played in a dorm hall, which was pretty tight.  I guess there were a lot of Will’s friends/Weed friends so when we hit the stage, it was a really huge reaction.  Our closer, “Eighty” people were singing along and some crowd surfing ensued.  The bands we played this night were Blood Beach and Psychic Feline.  An interesting thing was happening this night as well.  There was also a school tradition going on this night, where a 200lbs+ owl statue would appear somewhere on campus and the point was to fight over this owl and see who gets it.  Apparently fist fights happen over this and it’s quite intense apparently.  I guess it’s also for bragging rights.  Still, quite a few came to watch us so it was really cool.  This show was definitely the highlight of the weekend (even though we only played two shows).  This was my first time experiencing “touring” in the States (again, even though we played two shows) and it was a lot of fun.  I realized that my body is so out of touring so it was nice to be home and have a day off but regardless, it was a good experience.  Thanks Weed for taking me on this short trip.  It’s been a slice!
